Linux
Note: Linux users are not offically supported by the University at this time. However, we will provide instructions on how to connect to the new DePaul Blue Wireless network. If these instructions do not work, please consult the Other / Legacy Devices page for WEP settings and Google for tips on how to configure your distro of linux. Use this information at your own risk. We are unable to offer additional assitance or guidance as to how to connect.

Requirements
- Latest Java Run Time Environment - Available Here
- Web Browser with Java Run Time Support - Firefox Recommended
- 802.11b/g Wireless Card
- Campus Connect Username and Password
- Wireless VPN Client - Available Here
- Tar, wget, and wireless (iwconfig) packages.
- A user with sudo or root access
These instructions will not touch on how to get wireless working on linux, but assume you have wireless setup and working with other access points prior to connecting to DePaul's Wireless.
Connecting to the Wireless Network
- Open the terminal.
- Connect to the wireless by typing sudo iwconfig wlan0 essid depaulblue.
- Enable the wireless by typing sudo ifup wlan0
Installing the SSL VPN Software
- Open the terminal and go to a directory you wish to download the client to. Type in wget http://wireless.depaul.edu/downloads/AventailConnect-Linux.tar
- Untar the Aventail package. Type in tar -vxf AventailConnect-Linux.tar.
- Install the Aventail Client with "install.sh". Install the client by typing sudo install.sh into the terminal and entering your password when prompted. The user must have sudo rights in order to install the client (of the wheel or sudo group, depending upon the distro you are using).
Login to the Wireless VPN Using a Web Browswer
- Open your web browser with java support, and go to https://wirelesslogon.depaul.edu.
- Login with your CampusConnect ID and Password when prompted to do so and hit submit.
- You will be conneted to the wireless network through the web browser. Do not close the browser as it will disconnect you from the network.
Login to the Wireless VPN Through the Terminal
- Open an terminal.
- Type startct in the terminal window.
- Default for all options and prompts untill you get the username prompt.
- Enter your CampusConnect UserID and Password.
- You will be connected to the wireless network through the terminal. Do not close the terminal as it will disconnect you from the network.
