Windows Vista HowTo

Requirements

  • Internet Explorer
  • 802.11b/g Wireless Card
  • All Current Windows Critical Updates
  • Campus Connect Username and Password
  • Wireless VPN Client - Available Here

    • Connecting To Wireless

    1. To connect to DePaul's wireless network, click on your START icon and choose Connect To.



    2. When the Wireless Network Connection window opens, locate the DePaul wireless network called depaulblue, click on it to highlight it, and then click the Connect button located on the bottom right of the window.



    Installing the Wireless VPN Client

    1. Download the DePaul Wireless VPN Connection client by clicking on the link below:

      http://wireless.depaul.edu/downloads/depaul-aventailconnect-vista.exe

      Save this file to your Desktop or a location in which you can find it

    2. After downloading, locate the installer and double click on it to run it. If nothing happens when you double click, right click on the icon and choose Run As Administrator.



    3. You may receive a security warning when trying to run the application, if you do, click RUN to continue the installation.



    4. The Aventail Connect Setup Wizard will start to run, while it's running you will see the following screen. Installation should only take a few minutes.



    Logging Into the Wireless Network

    1. Double click the DePaul Wireless VPN Connection icon on your desktop.



      If the installer did not put an icon on your desktop, you can find it in the Start Menu then All Programs then Aventail as shown below:



    2. Enter your Campus Connect Username and Password into the VPN Client and click Connect to access the wireless network.

      If you do not remember your Campus Connect Username and Password please visit https://campusconnect.depaul.edu or call the Technology Contact Center at x28765 or 312-362-8765.



    3. Once the VPN Connection is established, the DePaul Wireless VPN Connection icon and a bubble pop-up will appear in your system tray stating that you are connected to the network.



    Disconnecting from the Wireless VPN

    1. When you are finished, right click on the DePaul Wireless VPN Connection icon in your system tray and choose Disconnect.
